What Is PH Balanced? Why an Alkaline Diet Is Important to Your ...

Everyday, whether you realize it or not your body is performing a balancing act. I know that Dr?s do their best when trying to explain to patients how to get healthier. The problem is all most of us hear is ?workout more and eat healthier?. Well that?s fine and dandy, but a lot of us think we are doing just fine and MAYBE we will tweak a thing here or there to get ?healthier?. The biggest problem I see as a healthcare worker is people don?t really start to pay attention to what their doctor is saying until it?s almost too late. A lot of people feel if they can?t see it or it?s not bothering them then their lifestyle isn?t so bad.

Unfortunately this is sometimes a fatal misconception. I can?t tell you how many times I have comforted a family member in the ICU and heard the words, ?this all happened so fast? or ?they were fine until all this started?. In my head I?m thinking, their body has been getting this way for a while. This just didn?t happen overnight.

When I say that your body is performing a balancing act I mean it. Every minute of every day your body uses all its resources to keep you from getting sick. While all bodily functions are important, one we often don?t think about is our internal chemical balance. pH balance is the single most important function going on inside each and every one of our bodies.

So what is pH? By definition pH stands for potential hydrogen. Your body works very hard to keep your body?s blood pH between 7.35-7.45. Anything under 7.35 is considered too acidic and anything over 7.45 is considered too alkaline. While becoming too alkaline is a health concern it is more easily remedied and not as dire as your body becoming too acidic. How many of you know that the underlying cause of all disease is a body that is too acidic? If you are out of this small range at any given moment you are very sick and probably on your way to the hospital, in an ICU, or on the way to the morgue.

So, how does your body perform this miraculous feat on a daily basis? The body will use acid buffering agents such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, and sodium to counteract over acidity in the body. This is why it?s essential that you know what you are putting in your body! Did you know that eating certain types of foods makes your body have to work VERY hard to counteract acid? What if I told you that you are making your body work too hard when you eat things such as white flours, animal proteins, sugar, artificial sweeteners, pasta, cheese, milk, coffee, and the #1 worst offender soda.

In a proactive effort, my family and I have changed our life style to include more alkaline based foods as well as alkaline water. Water is among the most important substances that you put into your body. Our bodies when healthy and fully functional are 70% water. All of our organs, cells, and most importantly our blood NEEDS water to keep our bodies running optimally.

In a busy world it?s not always easy to eat right 100% of the time. That?s why adding alkaline water to your daily regimen can help facilitate your body to function optimally. The way I see it everyone needs water so why not make sure that you are drinking the best water on the planet. I know that switching to a more alkaline lifestyle has greatly improved the health of me and my family.
