Practicing Positive Pilates
?You can turn any weakness or suffering into strength, power, unlimited abundance, health and joy.?
Rhonda Bryne, author of The Secret
The premise of the book and documentary, ?The Secret?, is that the universe is governed by the law of attraction which is said to work by attracting into a person?s life the experiences, situations, events, and people that ?match the frequency? of the person?s thoughts and feelings. ?Therefore, thinking positive and feeling positive are claimed to create life-changing results such as increased wealth, health, and happiness.
Applying ?The Secret? to your Pilates and Core Fitness training can make all the difference. ?Here at Sixpax, we consistently find those clients with an optimistic outlook are most likely to see results. ?Now this seems like common sense, but here are some things to consider if you?re wondering which frequencies you are aligning with when it comes to your ?work-out attitude?.
- Do you dread coming to classes?
- Do you rush to class?
- Do you frequently?look at the clock during your session?
- Do you cancel your appointments and/or class reservations often?
- Do you feel tense in the neck and shoulders during and/or after class?
- Are you hard on yourself when an exercise is beyond your capacity and you need to modify?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, take a peak below and consider consciously applying the simple SECRET of positivity into your Pilates and core training:
- Just Do It ? Don?t spend too much time or energy anticipating your workout. Find something calming to do before heading to the studio, including having a warm cup of lemon water or a hot tea. Pressed for time? Just stand in one place, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths before making your way to class. Smile. You?re about to do something amazing for yourself!
- Plan ? Schedules are tight, but giving yourself a reasonable amount of time to make your way to class will make all the difference. Planning to arrive a few minutes early will help you to feel super organized. ?Arriving after your session has already started, or even right on time, can add stress to an already strenuous activity. An organized daily schedule will turn a scattered mood into a focused one.
- Don?t Clockwatch - There is nothing wrong with wanting your daily work-out done and over with, especially when you?re in a boot-camp-type class, or if you?re executing arms pulling straps on the long box on the Reformer, but constant time checks will result in a never ending hour (consider the proverbial watched pot). When you find yourself continually glancing at the clock, focus instead on gratitude for being afforded the time in your day for such healthy indulgences. You are blessed!
- Commit to Yourself ? If you continually cancel classes you sign up for, you?re going to end up feeling disappointed with yourself, and from there it?s a downward spiral. ?When it comes to scheduling sessions, be realistic! Don?t try to cram in work-outs. ?Go for quality instead of quantity. ?Instead of registering for 6 classes you can probably attend in a week, sign up for four you know you?ll get to!
- Be Aware ? Tension in the neck and shoulders, both on and off the mat, is a sign of a lack of body awareness as well as physical and mental stress. First step is awareness. From there, choose to chill out. That simple. Comes in time.
- Believe ? Sending negative reinforcement to your body when the exercise gets tough is a lose-lose situation-if you think you can?t, you won?t! Again this sounds clich?, but cultivating an awareness of where your mind goes during your workout is an integral part of the process.
There you have it, fitness folks! It?s simple, it?s logical, it?s practical. ?Sixpax is sharing the secret: ?Practice Positive Pilates and change your ?mind-body?!
?Everything is possible, nothing is impossible. There are no limits. Whatever you can dream of can be yours, when you use The Secret.?
